San Francisco Lettering Walk with Paul Shaw

Registration is open

Join design historian and lettering expert Paul Shaw for an APHA NorCal signage tour of San Francisco on August 14 from 11am to 2 pm.

The tour will begin in the Tenderloin and finish at Civic Center. The Tenderloin, with its density of cheap hotels, is a mecca for neon aficionados.

At the end of the walk we will have lunch in the Mission District, rich in signs for everything from defunct movie palaces to pawn shops.

We will look at lettering in terms of style, techniques, and material, and will place it in a historical and architectural context.

This tour is strictly limited to 20 participants and is ticketed (APHA NorCal members $15, their friends $20, general public $25).
